US Tech Data: Wide grip safety spreads recoil out over a larger area of the hand for increased comfort. Standard model beavertails feature a flared "tail" that quickly guides hand into position and totally eliminates hammer bite on the web between the thumb and finger. High grip model has an upswept "tail" that pushes the wrist into a straight position for faster sight pickup and recovery, and a raised pad for positive palm contact.
